Ken's Lake

We're parked at our first BLM (Bureau of Land Management) site in Moab. Ken's Lake. No water hook up, no cable hook up, no electricity hook up, no sewer hook up. No generators running past 8pm. It's great!

We got set up, Josh made some venison chili on the outdoor stove, Koen smashed his hand with a hammer. It was crazy. Kids bathed, PJs on, and then we went outside to look up at the night sky. WOW! Seems impossible that there are so many stars. From out here, no city lights and such, we can see stars, planets, even those hazy areas which Josh called the Milky Way. The evening sky is so beautiful! Thank you God for such beauty.

Tomorrow morning I'm going to the farmer's market, Josh & Koen are going fishing. We're going to have a great weekend of adventure. We're expecting a high of 91 tomorrow...maybe I should lay out? I need to get some color on these pasty legs.

Picture Note

Ok, it's not easy putting pictures on here with comments. So figure them out for yourselves. The good thing about national park mountain roads, port a pottys - or should I say prairie dawgs...how awesome is that!
Josh climbing a crack in a boulder.

Koen boldering.

Overlook from road on a drive through the La Sal Mountains.Plant life.
La Sal Mountains - took a long drive through these - so beautiful. Perfect weather.

Parenting

This parenting thing is really challenging at times. We arrived in Moab on Tuesday evening, and the first two days were like recovering from jet lag...except it was car lag (is that even a term?!? lol!). We were fine, but the kids were ready to not be in the car. We managed to survive a few nights, then all of a sudden we have 2 horrible sleepers on our hands. This is day 5 (I think, my mind is so foggy) and the nights in this camper are rough. If it's not Koen, it's Eiley.

So if you're wondering why there are no pictures yet, it is because we simply are finding little time to do our own thing yet. I uploaded pictures, but they didn't seem to post. I will try again.

Today we're going bouldering. It's the first cloudy day here so far, but the temps are still expected to be in the high 80s.

We took an awesome scenic drive yesterday, while the kids napped, into the La Sal Mountains. It was beautiful! The mountain air was cooler, there were cows and horses from some ranch somewhere along the road. Beautiful birch trees (white paper trunks) everywhere that are starting to turn colors. It was a LONG winding drive and it was amazing. We will put pics up soon.

Arrival

We're here! We made it. 1,305 miles across the United States with a 3 year old and a 1 year old. The 3 year old was a gem...the 1 year old, not so much. But I can't complain, I'm looking out my window at a giant red rock mountain. Moab is beautiful. Pictures for sure today!

Departure

I wish I can say our departure has gone off without a hitch...but then it would be 2am on Monday morning, not 5:06am. We chose to sleep a bit more since we didn't get settled into our fifth wheel at the storage unit until after 10pm. I woke up at 3:39am, went out to the truck to start it up and warm it up for the kids, and the truck wouldn't start. We called AAA to come out, I went to check on the sleeping kids in the rv. After tinkering for awhile, Josh got the truck started somehow so we cancelled AAA service and headed out....just in time for us to catch a cup of coffee from our favorite Starbucks.

I left our camera in a spot I can't get to until tonight, so I'll have to get it out and get some pictures of this later on. As of now, kids are asleep in their car seats, and we're ready for an adventure!

Wrapping It Up

We're just spending the rest of Sunday wrapping things up in good ol' Rockford. We're heading out of town late this evening after we catch some zzzzzs. Can't wait to be on the road with our house behind the truck. I'll get some pictures up soon, keep your eyes posted.
